Graphic Design Ties it All Together

Whether it’s an event like a golf outing or a citywide winter festival or a major communication campaign like COVID-19, we have the skills to pull it all together and make sure the entire project stays on brand. Communicating important information and doing it with eye-cataching graphic design is the key to successful integrated marketing campaigns.

Covid-19 Education Campaign

When Educating the Public is Essential

When the pandemic hit Oakland County, Michigan, I was at the forefront of the education and communication planning and execution. As part of my “day job” I was put in charge of working with Information Technology to create a website that would become the hub of all communication coming from the county. From the very beginning, I was handling graphic design, web design direction, and developing social media graphics to be used to educate the public about the pandemic.

And in the early days of the crisis, I was also turning the one-man-communications department (me!) into a collaborative cross-department team.  The samples you see here are just a tiny fraction of what I produced or oversaw. We worked 80 hours per week for 18 months straight, so you can imagine it would be impossible to display everything we did here on a single page.

Face It Campaign

My team took photographs and video for this campaign so we could feature actual county residents whenever possible.

Influencer Marketing

We relied heavily on influencer marketing to spread the educational message about being safe during the pandemic, masking up, and getting vaccinated. Local political and community leaders were instrumental, as well as local celebrity influencers, such as Kristen Bell.

Grant Reporting & Transparency

The federal funding Oakland County received from the CARES Act was distributed to hundreds of community organizations, residents, schools, and businesses. Being transparent about how the funds were used was essential. This infographic helped to visually tell the story of funding recipients.

Fire & Ice Festival

Penguins, Fireworks & Ice Sculptures

My favorite part of creating the Fire & Ice Festival brand materials was the penguins! All materials featured a family of penguins in various stages of fun—sledding penguins, ice skating penguins, ziplining penguins, and even a hungry penguin ready to try out the food vendors in the beer tent. All social media messaging had a playful tone with fun graphics to accompany the festival content.

The festival is paid entirely by sponsor contributions, so it’s important to feature them accurately and prominently on signs, social graphics, printed materials, and the website.
