Black and White Like You & Me
The Black and White series by author Thomas Daniels and various co-authors explores themes of race, community, and culture through personal stories and reflections. Over the 8 years of publishing these three books, I partnered with the author to bring his words to life through thoughtful book design, author branding, and publishing support. I designed all three Black and White titles—building a cohesive series look across two adult volumes and a children’s picture book.
Black and White Like Me | A Children’s Picture Book
For the third title in the series, I collaborated with Thomas Daniels, a first-time children’s book author, and the professional illustrator who brought his story to life. My role was to take the finished artwork and text and shape it into a polished, production-ready book. I designed the interior spreads, carefully pairing illustrations with text for readability and flow, and ensured the layout worked beautifully in both print and digital editions. In addition, I created the cover design to complement the larger Black and White series while giving this picture book its own playful, age-appropriate look.
