Creative Director  |  Creative Operations Officer

Oakland County, Michigan  |  Department of Public Communications

2020 – Present

  • Creative Direction & Leadership: Led a dynamic team of creative professionals specializing in graphic design, video production, and front-end website management. Collaborated seamlessly with partner departments to provide creative services and ensure brand consistency across the organization.
  • Communication: Spearheaded strategic communication initiatives, overseeing workflow development, brand management, and delivering high-quality digital and print graphic design services. Directed multi-media video production efforts while ensuring the implementation of creative direction for countywide messaging.
  • Website Redevelopment: Achieved a milestone by successfully migrating and redesigning the county’s 3,200-page website, OakGov.com, transitioning from SharePoint 2013 to a custom-built CMS. This transformation, conducted in collaboration with the Information Technology Department, CMS vendor, and 175 countywide stakeholders, showcased a commitment to innovation and user experience.
  • COVID Education: Executed the development of the award-winning COVID-19 Oakland County Public Health educational website during the pandemic. Additionally, launched a dedicated WordPress website to manage high-traffic vaccine scheduling and waitlists, contributing to efficient public health communication.
  • Marketing Campaigns: Effectively managed $1.5M in contracts with an external marketing agency, orchestrating five campaigns focused on COVID-19 and Vaccine educational awareness. These campaigns were awarded numerous honors including the Michigan PACE Pinnacle Award.
  • New Department Development: Collaborated closely with executive administration in 2020/2021 to establish the Department of Public Communications. Led the development of the first centralized marketing and communications department for countywide messaging, which included creating an organizational chart, writing job descriptions, implementing workflows and task management systems, and developing the inaugural $2.8M department budget.

Senior Graphic Designer

Oakland County, Michigan  |  County Executive Administration

2011-2020

Developed the visual identity of Oakland County, executing graphic design initiatives for both print and digital marketing channels across the organization.

  • Presentation & Event Design: Collaborated directly with the County Executive, steering the creative direction of the State of the County Address and crafting all graphic elements showcased on stage during the televised presentation.
  • Marketing Material Design: Engaged in personalized collaboration with communication leads from 13 countywide departments, including Veterans Services, Animal Shelter & Pet Adoption Center, Economic Development, Management & Budget, County Executive, and media relations. Developed branded materials tailored to convey each department’s unique messages.
  • Intern Mentorship: Mentored and nurtured the talents of student interns through long-term paid positions and short-term academic assignments. Notably, two long-term interns under my guidance advanced to lead graphic design teams at the department level within Oakland County.
  • Environmental Design: Designed and executed large-scale environmental graphic installations, leaving a lasting impact on spaces such as the county campus water tower, Animal Shelter lobby, and citywide events like Fire & Ice Festival in Rochester.

As an integral part of county executive administration, I held the role of Executive Assistant and served as the dedicated assistant to the Media & Communications Officer, ensuring seamless coordination and support for high-profile tasks.

  • Communication Liaison: Facilitated effective communication by answering resident phone calls, responding to inquiries, and providing timely information on behalf of the Media & Communications Officer.
  • Correspondence Management: Produced polished and accurate correspondence, contributing to the professional image of the county executive administration. Ensured the timely dissemination of information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Event Coordination: Played a pivotal role in assisting with community events, showcasing attention to detail in executing successful initiatives that strengthened community relations.
  • Media Relations: Executed the publication of press releases and assisted with press conference coordination, handling logistics, and ensuring smooth execution to maximize media coverage.
